Knit our festive bobble hatwhich features a cute Christmas gnome motif and is topped with a large pompom.  Designed for children aged 1 to 11 years old and uses double knitting (DK) wool.

Design:  The hat is knitted flat on straight needles and has a gnome motif which is knitted following a chart and using the intarsia method.  The gnome’s bobble nose is knitted and sewn on separately.  You will need to sew the back seam and add a pompom to the top of the hat and a small pompom for the end of the gnome’s hat.

Sizes:  The pattern includes 6 sizes to fit: 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-9 yrs and 10-11 years old. The picture shows the hat knitted for size 10-11 years old.

Yarn:  The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The picture shows the outfit knitted using Stylecraft Special DK in shades: Blue (Empire 1829), White (1001), Red (Lipstick 1246), Black (1002) and Mushroom (1832).

Skill:  Intermediate.  Written instructions.  Experience needed working from a chart for the motif.

Tension:  22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

Needles:  Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
