The Woodland Pine Dresses are designed to fit children from 0–7 years. You can opt for short sleeves or a sleeveless tunic and both styles feature a beautifully textured pinecone pattern decorating the skirt, paired with a sand stitch hem for a soft, woodland-inspired finish. Moss stitch borders frame the neckline and armholes, adding gentle structure. Each dress fastens neatly at the back with a buttonband, making dressing easy and comfortable. A timeless, nature‑themed knit perfect for everyday wear and special occasions.
Design: The front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. Stitches are picked up for the neckband and button band at the back. You then have the option of either short sleeves which are knitted separately and sewn onto the dress or picking up stitches for a moss stitch armhole edge band.
Sizes: Includes 6 sizes to fit child: 0-6 mths, 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs and 6-7 years old
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted using Rico Baby Cotton Soft DK in shade Mauve (048) for Short Sleeved Dress and Smokey Rose (047) for the Sleeveless Dress.
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
