Knit our Pinafore Dress designed for children from birth to 7 years old. The skirt has a beautiful, lacy triangles pattern that adds lightness while the bodice is worked in stocking stitch for a clean silhouette. Moss‑stitch edgings frame the design for a neat, traditional finish. This pattern uses double knitting (DK) wool and is perfect layered over a t-shirt or worn on its own.
Design: The front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together at the shoulder. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and for the armhole edges.
Sizes: Includes 6 sizes to fit child: 0-6 mths, 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs and 6-7 years old
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the dress knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Light Grey (031) or shade Orchid (052).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
