Our Short Sleeved and Sleeveless Dress feature a little flower pattern to the skirt which is complemented by moss‑stitch edgings for a classic, textured finish. Knitted in soft double knitting wool, the addition of a button opening at the back makes the dress easier to slip over your child’s head. With sizes to fit from newborn to 7 years old, you can opt for two style options—short sleeves or sleeveless – which lets you tailor a versatile look for any season.
Design: The dress has a little flower design and moss stitch edgings. The front and back are knitted separately and sewn together. The moss stitch neckband is added by picking up stitches. Stitches are picked up for the button band at the back. You then have the option of either short sleeves which are knitted separately and sewn onto the dress or picking up stitches for a moss stitch armhole edge band.
Sizes: The pattern includes 6 sizes to fit child: 0-6 mths, 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs and 6-7 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the 6-12 months size knitted using Sirdar Snuggly DK in shade Pebble (524) for Short Sleeved Dress and Precious (187) for the Sleeveless Dress.
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
