The Petite Pinecone Dress Set is designed to fit dolls measuring 41–51 cm (16–20 inches). Worked in DK yarn, this set includes a short‑sleeved dress, a sleeveless dress and a bonnet. Both dresses feature a softly gathered skirt adorned with a pinecone lace pattern and the hemline is finished in sand stitch. A button‑back opening ensures easy dressing. The matching bonnet mirrors the dresses with its sand stitch edging and pinecone lace panel and ties securely under the chin with satin ribbon.
Design: For the Short Sleeved Dress, the front, back and sleeves are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and for the opening at the back. For the Sleeveless Dress, the front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. Stitches are picked up to finish off the armhole edges. Stitches are picked up for the back borders for both dresses.
Sizes: Includes 3 sizes to fit a doll: 41-51 cms or 16-20 inches. Also suitable for a baby in sizes: premature, (newborn, 0-3 months old).
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Light Green (027) and Dusky Pink (040).
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
