A cute winter jumper knitting pattern for little ones featuring a reindeer in the snow motif on the front. Knitted in double knitting (DK) wool, this design is for children from newborn to 3 years old.
The jumper is worked flat in pieces and finished with ribbed borders at the hem, cuffs, and neckline. A practical button opening at one shoulder makes dressing easy for babies and toddlers, while maintaining a classic, comfortable fit.
Design: The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and one shoulder has a 3-button fastening to make it easier to lift the jumper over the child’s head. A chart is provided to complete the motif.
Sizes: The pattern includes sizes: 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m, 9-12m, 1-2yrs and 2-3 years old. To fit chest: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 inches or 31, 36, 41, 46, 51 and 56 cms.
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but you will also need experience of working from a chart to complete the motif.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply)
The picture shows the jumper knitted for size 9-12m using Rico Baby Classic DK shades: Red (009), White (001), Greige (017), Clay (037) and Black (099).
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Stitch holders
Small crochet hook (optional) to help pull yarn through for pompom
