About the Knitting Pattern

The Three Merry Penguins Jumper is a festive children’s knit designed for ages 3 to 9 years. Three cheerful Christmas penguins march around the neckline, each wearing a Santa hat for a joyful seasonal touch. Knitted in double knitting (DK) wool, the jumper is finished with neat ribbing at the neckline, cuffs, and hem, giving a tidy, stretchy fit that holds its shape beautifully.

Design Details

The front, back, and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom up and then sewn together. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline. A chart is provided for the penguin motif around the yoke.

Sizes

Instructions include four sizes:

·       3–4 years

·        4–5 years

·       6–7 years

·       8–9 years

Skills Level

Intermediate – written instructions are provided, with experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.

Yarn

Knitted using double knitting wool. Suitable alternatives: USA Light Worsted / Australian 8‑ply.

The jumper shown uses: Stylecraft Special DK – Empire (1829), Lipstick (1246), White (1001), Orange (1256), Black (1002).

Needles

·       3.25 mm and 4.0 mm straight needles (USA sizes 3 and 6).

Other Requirements

·       Stitch holders

·       Small crochet hook for helping pull yarn through when making pompoms (optional)
