The Sugarplum Lace & Picot Set is a delicate three‑piece outfit designed to fit 30-46 cms/12–18 inch dolls. Worked in double knitting wool, each piece features a lacy pattern and a picot edging, giving the set its light, sugar‑sweet finish.
The front, back and sleeves of the matinee jacket are knitted separately before all pieces are slipped onto a single needle to shape the yoke. Ribbed buttonbands are picked up and knitted.
The matching pinafore dress is worked in two pieces, front and back knitted separately and sewn together and fastened with buttons.
Completing the set is a matching bonnet, echoing the lace and picot details of the garments. It is finished with satin ribbon ties, giving the outfit a gentle, classic touch.
Sizes: 2 sizes to fit doll 30-36 (38-46) cms or 12-14 (15-18) inches. Also suitable for a premature (newborn baby).
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply.
The pictures show the outfit knitted for the larger size using Stylecraft Special DK in shades Mushroom (1832) and White (1001).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles
