The Watermelon Ruffle Set is a charming DK‑knit dress and hat designed for dolls 31–46 cm (12–18") and is also suitable for a premature or newborn baby. Inspired by fresh summer colours, this outfit features a beautifully shaped double‑frill hem and a button‑back opening. The yoke is worked in a mock‑cable pattern that creates the look of real cables without needing a cable needle.
The matching hat echoes the same detailing with its double‑frill brim, mock‑cable crown, and a cute top loop to complete the set.
Design: The front, back and sleeves are knitted separately and then slipped onto the same needle to complete the yoke. Stitches are picked up for the back buttonbands.
Sizes: 2 sizes to fit doll 12-14 (15-18) inches or 31-36 (38-46) cms. Also suitable for a premature (newborn baby).
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided. The outfit is edged with frills, so you will need some knitting experience in dealing with a large number of stitches.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles. Longer length 3.25mm needed for the frill (or circular needed if preferred).
