A festive children’s jumper featuring a snowy Rudolph the Reindeer motif on the front.
The sweater is knitted using double knitting (DK) wool and shaped with raglan seams for a smooth, comfortable fit and easy movement. A four‑button front opening makes dressing simple for babies and young children, while the ribbed cuffs, neckline, and hem give a neat, classic finish that frames the motif beautifully.
Design: The front has a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer in the snow motif. The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up and the raglan seams sewn together. Stitches are picked up for the front opening button bands. A chart is provided to complete the motif.
Sizes: The pattern includes 4 sizes: 6-12m, 1-2yrs, 2-3 yrs and 4-5 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the jumper knitted for size 2-3 years using Stylecraft Special DK shades: Red (Lipstick 1246), White (1001), Camel 1420, Green (1116), Dark Brown (1004) and Black (1002).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
