Our festive Jumper features a sweet bear face motif on the front wearing a pompom Christmas hat. A practical three-button opening at one shoulder ensures easy dressing for babies and toddlers. Designed for little ones from 0–3 years, the sweater is knitted using double knitting (DK) wool, making it perfect for everyday winter wear.
Design: The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and one shoulder has a 3-button fastening to make it easier to lift the jumper over the child’s head. A chart is provided to complete the motif.
Sizes: The pattern includes sizes: 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m, 9-12m, 1-2yrs and 2-3 years old. To fit chest: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 inches or 31, 36, 41, 46, 51 and 56 cms.
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but you will also need experience of working from a chart to complete the motif.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply)
The picture shows the jumper knitted using Stylecraft Special DK shades: Turquoise (1068) and White (1001), Red (Lipstick 1246), Black (1002), Light Brown (Walnut 1054) and Dark Brown (1004).
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
