Children’s Pinafore Dress to fit from 6 months to 3 years old

This pinafore dress is knitted using 4‑ply wool to create a lightweight layer perfect for all seasons. The design features a flower pattern to the skirt, while the moss stitch edgings give a textured finish to frame the garment.

Instructions are for children from 6 months to 3 years old and the buttoned straps make it easier to dress your child and allow for a comfortable fit.

Design:  The dress has a flower pattern and moss stitch edgings. The front and back are knitted separately and sewn together at the sides.  Two buttons are stitched on to the front straps.

SizesThe pattern includes 5 sizes to fit a child: 6m, 12m, 18m, 2yrs and 3 years old.
Yarn:  The pattern uses 4 ply wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA Sport or Australian 5 ply).

The picture shows the outfit knitted for size 2 years old using Sirdar Snuggly 4 Ply in shades Lilac (0219) and White (0251).

Skill:  Intermediate.  Written instructions provided.

Tension:  28 sts and 36 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 3.25 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

Needles:  Sizes 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm (USA 2 and 3) straight needles are required.

Other requirements:

2 buttons
