Children’s Chevron Pattern Dress to fit from birth to 7 years old

Design:

The dresses have a pretty wavy-edged chevron pattern and moss stitch borders. The front and back are knitted separately and sewn together.  The moss stitch neckband is added by picking up stitches.  Stitches are picked up for the button band at the back.  You then have the option of either short sleeves which are knitted separately and sewn onto the dress or picking up stitches for a moss stitch armhole edge band. 

Sizes:

The pattern includes 6 sizes to fit child: 0-6 mths, 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs and 6-7 years old

Yarn:

The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply)

The picture shows the 6-12 months size knitted using Rico Baby Dream DK Uni in shade Powder (002) for the Sleeveless Dress and Grey (017) for the Short Sleeved Dress.

Skill:

Intermediate.  Written instructions provided.

Tension:

22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

Needles:

Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Other requirements:

3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) buttons for each dress

Stitch holders
