The dress is designed for children from 6 months to 3 years old.  The main features are an easy-to-knit dotty ‘dewdrop’ texture to the skirt and picot edging around the neckline, armholes and hem, plus a 3-button fastening at the back to make dressing easier.  Worked in double knitting (DK) wool, this tunic is perfect for year‑round wear and layering over tights or leggings.

DesignThe front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together.  Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and armhole edges.

SizesThe pattern includes 3 sizes to fit child: 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs and 2-3 years old.

YarnThe pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The picture shows the outfit knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Dusty Pink (40).

SkillIntermediate.  Written instructions provided.

Tension22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

NeedlesSizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Other requirements:

3 buttons (size 15mm)

Stitch holders
