The dress is designed for children from 6 months to 3 years old. The main features are an easy-to-knit dotty ‘dewdrop’ texture to the skirt and picot edging around the neckline, armholes and hem, plus a 3-button fastening at the back to make dressing easier. Worked in double knitting (DK) wool, this tunic is perfect for year‑round wear and layering over tights or leggings.
Design: The front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and armhole edges.
Sizes: The pattern includes 3 sizes to fit child: 6-12 mths, 1-2 yrs and 2-3 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Dusty Pink (40).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
