About the Knitting Pattern
The Four Frosty Friends Jacket is a children’s Christmas cardigan featuring four snowmen — two on the front and two on the back — each wearing a different coloured hat and scarf. Designed to fit little ones from 6 months to 2 years old, this festive knit is worked in double knitting (DK) wool and finished with a cabled yoke and ribbed edges. The pattern is written in English and is supplied as a digital download PDF.
Design Details
The back, left front, right front, and sleeves are each worked flat up to the yoke. All pieces are then joined onto a single needle to complete the decorative cable design across the yoke. Once the yoke is finished, the sleeve and side seams are sewn together. Stitches are picked up along the front edges to knit the button and buttonhole bands. A full chart is provided for the snowmen motif.
Sizes
Instructions include two sizes:
• 6–12 months
• 18–24 months
Skills Level
Intermediate. The pattern includes written instructions, but you will also need experience of:
• Working from a chart for the motif
• Using a cable needle to complete the yoke design
Yarn
This cardigan is knitted in double knitting (DK) wool. (Overseas equivalents: USA Light Worsted / Australian 8 ply.) and is shown using the following yarn:
• Rico Baby Classic DK — Red (009), White (001)
• Stylecraft DK — Green (1116), Orange (1256), Black (1002), Turquoise (1068), Violet (1277), Mustard (1823)
Needles
• 3.25 mm (USA 3) and 4 mm (USA 6) straight needles
Other Requirements
• 1 cable needle (4 mm)
• Stitch holders
• 3 buttons
• 1 small crochet hook (optional) — helpful for pulling yarn through when making pompoms
