Knit our Freddy the Teddy Bear Jumper designed for children from 6 months to 7 years old. The sweater has an intarsia Christmas Teddy motif on the front and ribbed edges. The jumper also has a wider neckline and a three-button back opening to make it easier for dressing your little one.
Design: The front of the sweater has a motif of a teddy bear in the snow, dressed in a Christmas jacket and hat. The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up and sewn together. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline. The back has a 3-button opening to make it easier to fit the jumper over the child’s head. A chart is provided to complete the motif.
Sizes: 5 sizes included to fit child: 6-12 months, 1-2, 2-3, 4-5 and 6-7 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The Jumper shown in the main picture is for size 2-3 years and knitted using:
Sirdar Snuggly DK in shades: Pear (529), White (251), Flamenco (242), Puppy (521), Biscuit (522) and Stylecraft Special DK shades: Green (1116) and Black (1002)
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif. Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
(optional) 1 x 3.25 mm circular needle to help you complete the neckband
