A festive jacket for children aged 4 to 11 years, the Rudolph Yuletide Parade Jacket features charming rows of Rudolph the Red‑Nosed Reindeer motifs paraded proudly around both the front and back.
The jacket is knitted using double knitting (DK) wool and shaped with a textured cabled yoke and button fastening down the front, while the ribbed cuffs, hem, and neckline ensure a snug, comfortable fit.
Design: The Jacket has three rows of reindeer motifs to the back and front of the jacket. The back, left side, right side and sleeves are knitted separately up to yoke and then slipped onto same needle to complete the yoke which has an attractive cable design. The sleeves and side seams are sewn together. Stitches are picked up for the front button/buttonhole bands. A chart is provided to follow for the motifs.
Sizes: Includes 4 sizes to fit a child: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA Light Worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted for size 4-5 years old using Stylecraft Special DK in shades Lipstick (1246), Camel) 1420 and Dark Brown (1004).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but you will also need experience of working from a chart to complete the motif and working with a cable needle for the yoke.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4 mm (USA 3 and 6) needles are required.
Other requirements:
1 cable needle (size 4 mm needle)
4 mm circular needle (optional for yoke)
Stitch holders
8 (8, 9, 9) buttons
