The dresses feature a textured popcorn pattern to the skirt which is complemented by twisted rib edgings for a modern finish. Knitted in double knitting (DK) wool, the addition of a button opening at the back makes the dress easier to slip over your child’s head and children will love the tactile feel of the bobbles. With sizes to fit from newborn to 7 years old, you can opt for two style options—short sleeves or sleeveless – which lets you tailor a versatile look for any season.
Design: The front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. The neckband is added by picking up stitches. Stitches are picked up for the button band at the back. You then have the option of either short sleeves which are knitted separately and sewn onto the dress or picking up stitches for the armhole edge band.
Sizes: The instructions are for 6 sizes: 0-6 m, 6-12m, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs and 6-7 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Orchid (052) and Light Green (027).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Tension: 22 sts and 28 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) buttons for each dress
Stitch holders
