Create our Sleigh Ride Teddies Cardigans. The pattern includes two styles—a classic round‑neck cardigan and a smart V‑neck version—each featuring a pair of cheerful teddy bears on the front. Dressed in their Christmas jackets and hats, the teddies sit proudly on their sleighs as they glide across a snowy landscape, creating a joyful motif that children adore. Both cardigans are designed to fit children from 6 months to 7 years old and are knitted in double knitting (DK) wool.
Design: The cardigans have a motif of a Christmas Teddy on a sleigh on each side. The front, back and sleeves are knitted separately and sewn together. The ribbed buttonhole bands are added by picking up stitches and you may prefer to use a 3.25mm circular needle to help pick up and knit the stitches for the V-Neck Cardigan.
Sizes: The pattern gives instructions for 5 different sizes: 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, 4-5 years and 6-7 years old. To fit chest: 46, 51, 56, 61 and 66 cms or 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 inches.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
Cardigans shown in main picture are knitted using:
Stylecraft Special DK in shades French Navy (1854), White (1001), Lipstick (1246), Camel (1420), Mustard (1823), Mocha (1064) and Black (1002)
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
(optional) 3.25mm circular needle to help pick up and knit the stitches for the V-Neck Cardigan.
Other requirements:
