Create our Poppy the Puppy Dog Jumper designed to keep little ones cosy from their very first days through to toddlerhood. Worked in soft DK yarn, this sweater features a puppy dog motif on the front, floppy‑eared, friendly, and full of character, which children will adore.
The jumper is constructed with classic double ribbing at the neckline, cuffs, and hem for a neat, stretchy finish that holds its shape beautifully. A practical three‑button fastening at one shoulder ensures easy dressing for your child.
Sized from newborn to 3 years, this pattern offers a comfortable, relaxed fit with room for layers underneath. The simple stocking‑stitch body lets the motif shine, while the clean lines and soft texture make it a timeless wardrobe favourite.
Design: The front, back and sleeves are knitted separately. The front has a cute motif of a puppy dog knitted using the intarsia method following a chart. One shoulder has a 3-button opening to make it easier to lift over the child’s head. You need to pick up stitches for the neckline.
Sizes: The instructions are given for 4 sizes: 0-6, 6-12, 12-24 and 24-36 months old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
Sweater shown in main picture is for size 6-12m and knitted using:
Rico Baby Classic DK in shades Dusky Pink (040), Light Grey (031), White (001) and Anthracite (032).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
