The Wavy Edged Pinafore Dress is designed especially for babies and toddlers aged 6 months to 2 years old. Worked in double knitting (DK) wool, the dress has a wavy hemline with garter stitch edgings while the skirt features an easy-to-knit repeat pattern.

The bodice is shaped for a comfortable fit, with strap openings fastened by buttons for easy dressing.

DesignThe front and back are knitted separately on straight needles and the sides sewn together.  Four buttons are stitched on to the front.

Sizes:  4 sizes included to fit a child: 6m, 12m, 18m and 24 months old.
YarnThe pattern uses double-knitting wool. An alternative would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply for international knitters. 

The picture shows the outfit knitted using Sirdar Snuggly DK in shade 0439 (Little Bud) and shade 0251 (White).

SkillIntermediate.  Written instructions. 

Tension:  22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

NeedlesSize 3.25mm and 4mm (USA sizes 3 and 6) needles are required.

Other requirements:

4 buttons
