Create our Beau the Bear Jumper with this knitting pattern for little ones from birth to 3 years old. Worked in soft double knitting yarn, the design features an adorable bear motif on the front and a practical three‑button opening at one shoulder, which makes it easier to lift the sweater over the child’s head. Design: The front has a cute teddy motif. The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline. One shoulder has a 3 button fastening to make it easier to lift the jumper over the child’s head. A chart is provided to complete the motif.
Sizes: The pattern includes 4 sizes: 0-6m, 6-12m, 1-2yrs and 2-3 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The jumper shown in the main picture is for size 6-12 months and knitted using:
Rico Baby Classic DK shade: Ice Green (54), Steel Grey (44), White (01) and Stylecraft Special DK in shade Black (1002)
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
3 buttons (size 15mm) for Jumper opening
Stitch holders
