Knit our Cat Motif Jumper designed for newborns up to 3 years old. Worked in soft double‑knitting yarn, the main feature is a grey kitten sitting proudly on the front. The sleeves add playful contrast with bold, clean stripes, making the whole sweater feel cheerful and modern. A three‑button shoulder opening ensures easy dressing for your child, while the ribbed cuffs, hem, and neckline keep the fit snug and tidy.
Design: The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline. One shoulder has a 3-button fastening to make it easier to lift the jumper over the child’s head. A chart is provided to complete the cat motif.
Sizes: The pattern includes 6 sizes: 0-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m, 9-12m, 1-2yrs and 2-3 years old.
Yarn: The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the jumper knitted for size 12-24 months using Robin Bonny Babe DK in shades White (1360) and Grey (1375) and Robin DK in shades Pale Rose (111), Emerald (091) and Red (042).
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
3 buttons.
