Knit our Parker the Polar Bear Jumper for children aged 1–5 years, featuring a charming polar bear motif with a playful bobble nose on the front. Worked in double knitting (DK) wool, the jumper is finished with double‑rib edgings at the neckline, cuffs, and hem for a classic, snug fit.

Design:  The front, back and sleeves are worked separately from the bottom-up and sewn together.  Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline.  A chart is provided to complete the motif.

Sizes3 sizes included to fit child: 1-2, 2-3 and 4-5 years old.

Yarn:  The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The jumper shown in the main picture is for size 1-2 years old and knitted using:

King Cole Pricewise DK in shades: Orangutan (3381), Stonewash (3495), White (001) and Black (048).

Skill:  Intermediate.  Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.

Tension:  22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension. 

Needles:  Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Stitch markers

Stitch holders
